Join us for our second face-to-face conference since January 2020! We have been trying to come North for 2 years!

About this event

We are looking forward to hosting an exciting day of dynamic conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion. Our theme for the event is ‘Visibility’.

  • Dr Adam Brett – Under the Spotlight: What Does it Mean to be Visible as a LGBT+ Teacher?
  • Emma Sheppard – Why do Women Leave? (And can we make them stay?)
  • Lindsey Parr – Role Models: The most powerful form of educating

2.00-3.00pm: Workshops

  • Anu Roy – How racism affects BAME students who are excluded
  • Haili Hughes – ‘They say nothing to me about my life’: Why alternative doesn’t mean unprofessional
  • Dr Pinky Jain – Side effects of lack of diversity in leadership and governance of schools – considering a public response

3.00-3.15pm: Comfort Break

3.15-4.00pm: Closing Keynote: Dr Anna Carlile – LGBTQI+ parents and their children’s schools: visibility, invisibility and risk

4.00-4.25pm: Panel – Dr Lisa Stephenson, Storymakers Company – Working with Children to Make Stories Better
